'People are afraid' - the reasons 'powerhouse' Arsenal are the squad everyone fears.

The evidence is unmistakable why Arsenal are now many people's favorites to claim the Premier League in the current campaign.

Consider their outcomes against Newcastle and Crystal Palace in contrast with those identical matches last season.

The Gunners have overcome all of them this time around, but surrendered 10 points across those games as they dropped off in the title race previously.

Impenetrable Defense

Arsenal's defensive strength is a crucial element why they are seeming ready to ultimately achieve their title ambition.

They stand first for shutouts (6), goals allowed (3), opposition efforts (72), shots on target faced (19) and xGA (5.3).

The central defensive pairing of Gabriel and William Saliba is arguably the strongest in the league, with Arsenal maintaining a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Dominance

Their danger from dead balls is highly documented, but rival sides still struggle to contain the Gunners from these situations.

They have scored 11 times from set-pieces in the league, a couple extra than any other side, with 69% of their goals coming from these situations.

"Arsenal can perform multiple roles now. The whole team has a fear factor. People are just afraid of them and it is wonderful to see."

Championship Credentials

What is even more impressive about Arsenal's commencement to the campaign is they have also faced Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United away from home and Manchester City at home - and are still four points clear at the top.

While they continue triumphing, their historic competitors are struggling. This marks the first time at this point of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The expectations was on boss Mikel Arteta at the start, having invested around £250m on eight summer signings in search of that coveted first title since 2004.

But the spending has so far paid off in remarkable manner, with his side one of the most prolific attacks in the league and having the most resilient defense, despite numerous injuries.

  • Unbreached games in three consecutive Premier League games
  • Nearly 6.5 hours without conceding a goal
  • Only three goals in 12 games across every tournament

Former players and pundits have described Arteta's men as a "unstoppable force, looking challenging to stop" with the whole club now performing with conviction and resolve.
