Major Moscow's Strikes Cut Power Throughout Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have faced escalating strikes in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Moscow's aerial assaults have led to blackouts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were wounded while inhabitants in eastern districts were plunged into darkness and encountered disruption to drinking water, as stated by municipal leaders.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a distinct assault in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southern area, as reported by regional authorities.

Moscow has escalated assaults on electrical systems over recent weeks, while the country's government has called for "substantial measures" from partner nations to apply pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but strong steps - from the US, Europe and the major economies - in providing protection systems and applying sanctions," was stated in a social media post.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty projectiles attacked energy facilities, characterizing such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were laboring to fix the damage.

A barrage of missiles struck energy infrastructure and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Multiple people injured in the strikes on the city have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by municipal representatives.

Local officials said the urban area experienced significant strikes overnight. A young boy was killed and multiple civilians were wounded.

The assaults come after periods of air raids in the region, parts of which remain under the control of invading troops.

The entire country is in a state of readiness for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are more difficult to spot.

Government officials told journalists that Russia was purposely seeking to damage the electrical infrastructure, with assaults already affecting energy systems.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and officials were bracing for additional strikes.
